Northland Pilates is a Pilates studio in my home with 2 Allegro reformers by Balance Body. I offer three options for private instruction: Private (1:1) - Just For You, Semi-private (2:1) - You and a Pal, Online Private (1:1) - Just For You. I work with a limited number of clients so I can keep accurate notes, create challenging routines and to give my fullest attention to their needs.
My programming varies based on your goals. Every session will include pushing, pulling, upper and lower body, front and back body, side body, and rotations. I will teach you exercises from Joseph Pilates’s original repertoire, along with cardio and strength training. I will teach you how to use the reformer for your body with spring tension and footbar adjustments.
You might just end up getting your own reformer after learning from me how to use it!
•Wear clothes that stretch and are comfortable and not too warm. You will warm up fast. Socks are not required but you may wear socks with grippy footings.
•Leave your dangling jewelry at home.
•No phones.
•Bring a water bottle.
•Try not to eat too much prior to your scheduled session.
•You may change into your workout clothes with privacy in the bathroom just off the studio space.
•If you have hair, put it up.
•Show up!
The Reformer consists of a sliding carriage equipped with adjustable springs, pulleys, straps and a footbar. These components work together to create a unique resistance system that enables a wide range of exercises, ensuring strength, range of motion, coordination, balance, core, and overall well-being. The adjustable springs allow you to customize the resistance training, accommodating your needs and fitness goals.
Strength Training and resistance training can help build bone density! The reformer can be used to target specific areas of your body and can provide a full-body workout. The sliding carriage, adjustable spring tension, and footbar allow for controlled movements that work your core, arms, legs, glutes, spine, and more.
It improves your flexibility and strength, increases core strength, offers resistance training, joint mobility, eases lower back pain, improves posture and develops long, lean muscles.

I follow the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Guidelines. You may come to Northland Pilates as long as your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you have medical clearance to participate. It is safe and encouraged for you to remain physically active throughout your pregnancy and Pilates is a perfect way for you to do so! I am trained and knowledgeable and know the adjustments to make for you both pre and postpartum.
I will check in with you prior to every session. If you are injured in a way that affects your normal movement significantly, I recommend clearance from your healthcare provider before class. If your injury is acute (red/hot/swollen) or recently post-operation, I also recommend clearance from a health care provider before class. Chronic pain - associated with injuries longer red/hot/swollen - usually responds well to exercise. Please let me know what you’re dealing with, and I’ll make the modifications from there. If I feel your injury needs a medical clearance, our session will be canceled.
If you are a Mom and need to bring your little ones, I am a Grandma and have ways to set them up so you still get a great experience.
Northland Pilates will work with everyone from 15 years and up.

He was a sickly child born in Germany in 1883. He wanted to improve his health by studying yoga, martial arts and other disciplines involving the mind and body. He became more interested in body movement during the First World War when he worked with injured soldiers. After the war, he brought his style of exercise, called CONTROLOGY, to New York City, where dancers, actors and athletes embraced it.
I highly recommend the book “Caged Lion Joseph Pilates & His Legacy” by John Howard Steel.
